Ultimate glossary of crypto currency terms, acronyms and abbreviations

I thought it would be really cool to have an ultimate guide for those new to crypto currencies and the terms used. I made this mostly for beginner’s and veterans alike. I’m not sure how much use you will get out of this. Stuff gets lost on Reddit quite easily so I hope this finds its way to you. Included in this list, I have included most of the terms used in crypto-communities. I have compiled this list from a multitude of sources. The list is in alphabetical order and may include some words/terms not exclusive to the crypto world but may be helpful regardless.
2FA
Two factor authentication. I highly advise that you use it.
51% Attack:
A situation where a single malicious individual or group gains control of more than half of a cryptocurrency network’s computing power. Theoretically, it could allow perpetrators to manipulate the system and spend the same coin multiple times, stop other users from completing blocks and make conflicting transactions to a chain that could harm the network.
Address (or Addy):
A unique string of numbers and letters (both upper and lower case) used to send, receive or store cryptocurrency on the network. It is also the public key in a pair of keys needed to sign a digital transaction. Addresses can be shared publicly as a text or in the form of a scannable QR code. They differ between cryptocurrencies. You can’t send Bitcoin to an Ethereum address, for example.
Altcoin (alternative coin): Any digital currency other than Bitcoin. These other currencies are alternatives to Bitcoin regarding features and functionalities (e.g. faster confirmation time, lower price, improved mining algorithm, higher total coin supply). There are hundreds of altcoins, including Ether, Ripple, Litecoin and many many others.
AIRDROP:
An event where the investors/participants are able to receive free tokens or coins into their digital wallet.
AML: Defines Anti-Money Laundering laws**.**
ARBITRAGE:
Getting risk-free profits by trading (simultaneous buying and selling of the cryptocurrency) on two different exchanges which have different prices for the same asset.
Ashdraked:
Being Ashdraked is essentially a more detailed version of being Zhoutonged. It is when you lose all of your invested capital, but you do so specifically by shorting Bitcoin. The expression “Ashdraked” comes from a story of a Romanian cryptocurrency investor who insisted upon shorting BTC, as he had done so successfully in the past. When the price of BTC rose from USD 300 to USD 500, the Romanian investor lost all of his money.
ATH (All Time High):
The highest price ever achieved by a cryptocurrency in its entire history. Alternatively, ATL is all time low
Bearish:
A tendency of prices to fall; a pessimistic expectation that the value of a coin is going to drop.
Bear trap:
A manipulation of a stock or commodity by investors.
Bitcoin:
The very first, and the highest ever valued, mass-market open source and decentralized cryptocurrency and digital payment system that runs on a worldwide peer to peer network. It operates independently of any centralized authorities
Bitconnect:
One of the biggest scams in the crypto world. it was made popular in the meme world by screaming idiot Carlos Matos, who infamously proclaimed," hey hey heeeey” and “what's a what's a what's up wasssssssssuuuuuuuuuuuuup, BitConneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeect!”. He is now in the mentally ill meme hall of fame.
Block:
A package of permanently recorded data about transactions occurring every time period (typically about 10 minutes) on the blockchain network. Once a record has been completed and verified, it goes into a blockchain and gives way to the next block. Each block also contains a complex mathematical puzzle with a unique answer, without which new blocks can’t be added to the chain.
Blockchain:
An unchangeable digital record of all transactions ever made in a particular cryptocurrency and shared across thousands of computers worldwide. It has no central authority governing it. Records, or blocks, are chained to each other using a cryptographic signature. They are stored publicly and chronologically, from the genesis block to the latest block, hence the term blockchain. Anyone can have access to the database and yet it remains incredibly difficult to hack.
Bullish:
A tendency of prices to rise; an optimistic expectation that a specific cryptocurrency will do well and its value is going to increase.
BTFD:
Buy the fucking dip. This advise was bestowed upon us by the gods themselves. It is the iron code to crypto enthusiasts.

The Nano Faucet Distribution: Visualized and Analyzed

It's no secret that Nano had a unique distribution. Unlike Bitcoin, Nano (then Raiblocks) had 100% of its supply minted in the Genesis block, which was then subsequently distributed via a Captcha faucet. However, the nature of this distribution has largely been unknown to the general public due to well... no one looking into it, I suppose. That is, until now.
Thanks to community member Renesq, the initial faucet distribution can finally be audited for the first time without the development of internal tools. So I took the data, and analyzed it.
Before I share the data, there is one important thing to note. This analysis is of standalone addresses only, not entities. It is very difficult to prove how many separate Nano addresses make up a single entity. It can be done, but this requires a much more complex chain analysis which is out of the scope of this investigation, such as linking different accounts together by following the chain to specific exchange deposit addresses. However, I think this is a good starting point to give us an idea of what the faucet distribution looked like, even if it isn't perfect.
This is the distribution graph.
The distribution graph can be read as follows: Say you look at the point (10,000, 0.65), That means the top 10,000 accounts farmed 65% of the max supply. Conversely, the point (80,000, 0.97) means the top 80,000 accounts farmed 97% of the max supply. Another thing to note, is that I removed exchanges like Binance from the current normalized distribution. This is because we don't know who within the hot/cold wallets owns the Nano. However, I should stress that the exchange excluded and exchange included normalizations are nearly identical, so it doesn't really matter in this case.
From this graph, I think it's safe to say that the faucet distribution was not rigged as people worry about. Or at least, it can point people in the right direction for a more in depth analysis. As you can see, the distribution has become more centralized over time due to accumulation.
Now for some more statistics:

Swipe Launches Staking/DeFi
Swipe has recently launched its test network for Swipe Network Testnet Staking and, at the same time, announced its plans to launch a Decentralized Finance Lending/Earn application on Binance Smart Chain.
With the launch of the Swipe Network testnet, users can use the Swipe Faucet to grab testnet-SXP to use on the decentralized finance application. Users will be able to bond SXP to the Swipe Network smart contract as collateral to ensure the guarantee of conversions for these exchanges. A reserve system in place to lock SXP and guarantee that the merchant and payment networks receive the exact fiat amount is in place as Swipe facilitates real-time conversions on-demand.
Users will receive up 12% APY on their staked SXP within the Swipe Network off-chain and a variable rate for on-chain. Swipe plans to enable staked SXP to earn the processing fees it charges in the future as well on top of the collateral rewards from staking.
Also, Swipe revealed its plans to launch a DeFi App on Binance Chain called SwipeFi, which will enable Binance Chain tokens to be used to earn interest on their supply of collateral to the protocol and borrow against their collateral directly on the Binance blockchain.
Swipe (SXP) Trading Competition
Last August 5 to 12, Swipe and Binance team have both committed a total of 100,000 SXP and 50,000 USDT in prizes to thank its users worldwide for their continued support and to also celebrate the Swipe acquisition and SXP/USDT listing in Futures, Margin and Spot markets. The contest was divided into three categories: a new user exclusive rewards, a trading competition, and the Lucky 99, which awarded users ranked 99th, 199th, 299th, 399th, and so forth until the 9999th place of the top 10,000 SXP traders based on their trading volume.
Swipe x WBTC
Swipe has partnered with WBTC Network and has officially been approved as a merchant for WBTC minting through the WBTC Network’s DAO Governance process. Swipe Wallet users will be able to benefit from instantly wrapping Bitcoin BTC to Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) and vice versa with just a few clicks. Swipe has also listed WBTC on the Swipe Wallet platform and Swipe Visa Card to enable users to buy, sell, exchange, and spend WBTC at over 60 million merchants worldwide.
SXP on CoinDCX
SXP, the native token of Swipe, is now listed and live on its second Indian Exchange CoinDCX. Trading for $SXP token is now live for CoinDCX users who wish to trade SXP/BTC and SXP/USDT.

Wazirx AMA Session
Swipe Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Joselito Lizarondo, held an AMA session with the Telegram community of Wazirx, a bitcoin exchange in India, last August 7. In the AMA session, Lizarondo answered questions about Swipe, Swipe Card, its new partnership with Binance, and the recent projects that the company has announced. The community also asked if Swipe is planning to bring its card services to India as it is one of the biggest crypto market countries at present.

New Swipe Product Manual
Swipe has released a new “redefined” white paper under the title: Swipe Product Manual. The Swipe Product Manual was designed with simplicity in mind for easy and coherent descriptions of the Swipe ecosystem of products. This will describe all of Swipe’s current and future products that the team has planned. Technical descriptions and documentation will be made available, as required, per protocol, as some will have API access for developers.
The Swipe Product Manual can be viewed by clicking here or by going to https://sw.pe/ProductManual or downloading https://swipe.io/ProductManual.pdf to your desktop.
Swipe 0% Fees
Starting Monday, August 17, Swipe Wallet and Swipe Card users will no longer have to pay any fees to buy, sell, and pay with crypto. Users can now purchase, sell, and convert cryptocurrencies to and from fiat currencies without the previous 1% fee. Swipe cardholders will also enjoy waived membership fees and free card shipping.
Swipe Staking
As Swipe prepares to launch the Swipe Network Staking mainnet, the Swipe Wallet application will support SXP staking. Users will enjoy staking rewards based on their SXP balances that are held on the Swipe Wallet beginning on August 23, 00:00 UTC.
More details of the staking can be viewed at:

Swipe Reddit AMA
In his first blog post on Medium, Swipe CEO Joselito Lizarondo answered the questions that the Reddit community asked regarding Swipe’s activities and plans for the future. He talked about the new partnership programs of Swipe, its newly released “Product Manual,” and the new roadmap, which will be kept in stealth “to focus on bringing maximum value to these announcements and products.”

$16M+ Ecosystem Rewards Program for BNB Holders on Binance
Swipe is launching a 12-week-period $16,000,000 Ecosystem Rewards Program for BNB holders, starting August 17. This program aims to continue to promote the usage of Swipe products, including the Swipe Network Staking and Governance within a strong community. With Swipe’s partnership with Binance, a weekly distribution of 333,333.33 SXP will run to BNB holders on Binance.com.

Swipe’s Chainlink Based Price Oracles Now Live
Swipe has collaborated with Chainlink, the market-leading decentralized oracle network, to launch a live SXP-USD price oracle on the Ethereum mainnet. By switching to Chainlink, users receive stronger guarantees around trust and transparency in the payments process, as critical price feeds for the network are now completely decentralized and available to monitor on the blockchain.
This decentralized infrastructure ensures that reward issuances and token burns only take place based on accurate, highly available, and tamper-proof on-chain prices that have no single point of failure or absolute truth. Users can independently verify the current price, how price updates occur, which nodes are providing data to the network, and more. This means users no longer need to rely on Swipe to produce fair conversion rates.

Adoption drivers

Nano is technically great - I think that is generally agreed upon. So, why no adoption?
As my thread last week discussed, I think this community has often undersold itself - potentially in an effort to be technically correct and potentially by limiting the audience to bitcoiners. How do we move forward?
I think the biggest benefit of using a cryptocurrency comes not to individuals / consumers but to vendors or merchants. I was very excited to hear about Kappture and AppiaPay, but they seem to have limited scope or delayed rollout. Yes, perhaps I can be patient. However, we can discuss other options in the meantime.
Coinbase / Bitpay - both of those would be excellent drivers to merchant adoption as they already have a very large userbase. It doesn't currently seem likely that they will adopt Nano. Is there any reason to believe they would add it for merchant acceptance rather than listed on exchange?
Brainblocks or similar - I believe this provides a similar service to Bitpay. I'm not aware of ongoing adoption efforts here. Can someone give commentary here? Could the community drive something here by developing a public resource or NanoCenter project (I'd be willing to participate or do some minor funding)?
Selected merchant adoption - Nano has technology that can be particularly suited for smaller transactions or those that need fast confirmation. Discounted prices for a service or for a company make sense. For me, this is what drove my BTC use before 2017. Find another way to publicize WeNano merchants? (man, worst timing for geo-located faucets ever!)
Other ideas?

Hi everyone. Pleased to be here! Thank you for taking your time to join me.
I’m the Chief Business Development Officer for TomoChain.
Educationally I graduated university with degrees in both Industrial Engineering and Economics from Georgia Tech, and later earned an MBA from the Wharton School of Business.
I grew up as a gaming addict and have a video game collection that is a bit unwieldy. Dozens of consoles and, at one point, over 13 classic arcade machines.
So, before crypto, I spent much of my profession in the gaming space. I was a Game Designer, Game Producer, and eventually Studio Head for a major games studio that was recently purchased by Rockstar Games. I have run my own game-related tech businesses as well.
I fell into crypto back in 2014, and over time it became a second passion of mine as I began to truly understand the value of decentralization. True ownership of data was not possible until Bitcoin came along and that is simply a powerful and game-changing message to a world structure built on an opposing foundation.
Brief Introduction

TomoChain is a Public Blockchain powered by Proof-of-Stake Voting. TomoChain launched into Mainnet 1 year ago in December 2018. It is secured by 150 Masternodes, of which I’m proud to be an operator myself. TomoChain is EVM Compatible and runs at a speedy 2000 TPS with a 2 Sec Blocktime. Gas fees are almost zero too.
Based out of Vietnam, TomoChain is Southeast Asia’s largest public blockchain. We are focusing on developing a full suite of DeFi products. We also have commercial and enterprise clients. TomoChain has a number of major crypto-partnerships including notables like Neo Blockchain, Chainlink and Crypto.com. Our Masternode network is run by some of the most recognizable players in the space as well, including Neo Global Capital, CoinGecko, HashQuark, KuCoin, and more large players are on the way.
TomoChain earned its place onto Binance.com with a fee-free listing last year by winning the BinanceDEX community vote in August 2019. Binance has written us up in a detailed Binance Research Report and awarded us the V-Label. We have also been in a number of their reports, including those related to Dapps and DeFi. We have been interviewed by Forbes.com official and had an in-person interview at NASDAQ, in the heart of Times Square, about TomoChain and our upcoming TomoX Protocol.
In China, specifically, we have been integrated into and have solid relationships with various blockchain players including HashQuark, HashKey, CoboWallet, Conflux, and many others. We launched an Ecosystem Development partnership with Neo Blockchain last December and co-hosted a meetup + workshop with them as well.

GEARED FOR REAL WORLD USE
Now, let’s talk about how TomoChain has been built for real-world use.
We’re looking at Payments & DeFi as low hanging fruit when it comes to user adoption and TomoChain is developing a suite of tools to support this. The biggest challenge for having users benefit from Blockchain on a day-to-day basis is how much friction is involved to acquire, store and use it. Even stable coins are dual currency systems. The Stablecoin and then the Native Token to pay gas fees. Blockchain is simply not user-friendly.
Our view is that the true solution for Blockchain adoption by the world is end-users shouldn’t need to know they are using blockchain technology at all. It should be a hidden technology layer, similar to payment processor settlements or even the internet distribution centers/routers that power this very AMA we’re all participating in right now. Do we need to know the underlying technology infrastructure to use them? Nope.
We are developing a system to hide this friction, so the TomoChain blockchain can be integrated into real-world applications that you use every day on mobile or web.
There are 3 protocols that we are building to enable this future: (1) TomoZ: Zero Friction (2) TomoX: The DEX Protocol (3) TomoP: The Privacy Suite.

https://preview.redd.it/irwduto4m5t41.png?width=741&format=png&auto=webp&s=56e21c8e56b86af197344d7a043d073456c53181
TomoZ: Zero Friction - Our TomoZ protocol is a core starting point to the solution for mass market use of blockchain technology. TomoZ: Zero Friction allows for token issuance and use by having gas fees paid by the token itself. That means you don’t need TOMO to send transactions. You don’t even need to know you’re using the TomoChain blockchain.
So you could buy a cup of coffee at a café using loyalty points that are TomoZ tokens. The customers redeem for their coffee or earn it, but they don’t even have to know it’s a blockchain token which they actually own.
This approach is structured to enable the next million-plus users to utilize blockchain as a technology layer. After all, the real value of any Blockchain is in its utilization of high-quality transactions.
Now, TomoZ transactions aren’t FREE. It actually does use TOMO, but that’s hidden from the end-user. The way it works is that the token issuer deposits a small amount of TOMO into a pool. Every time the token is sent, TOMO is taken from this pool to pay the Masternodes.
The key is that the end-user doesn’t need to get involved with internal workings, which is why we call it the Zero Friction protocol
Now let’s talk about TomoX: The DEX Protocol
TomoX is an upcoming DEX Protocol that allows anyone to launch their on permissionless Decentralized Exchange in minutes. It requires very little technical knowledge making it a near turn-key solution.
TomoX is the fastest DEX experience since it’s a Layer 1 protocol. This means it’s run and secured by the entire TomoChain network. Our Masternodes manage the DEX instructions directly, rather than other DEXs that operate as a Layer 2 protocol. What this means is TomoX DEXs will operate at about 50x faster than a typical 0x exchange. That significantly improves the end-user experience.
TomoX DEX operators have access to a shared liquidity pool across all DEXs. That means a user buying on one DEX can be matched with a user selling on another DEX. Of course, Operators can customize and choose which tokens to include.
TomoX is fully decentralized since the Order Book is on-chain. Many other semi-decentralized exchanges store the OB on a centralized service in order to speed up the execution. That means there is a centralized point of weakness for them. TomoX minimizes custody and security challenges that centralized exchanges have too since all users are always in possession of their assets.
TomoX is currently in testnet and you can checkout TomoChain’s own DEX, aptly called TomoDEX, here: https://dex.testnet.tomochain.com/
Here is a link to get some free Testnet TOMO that can be used on the testnet version of TomoDEX: https://faucet.testnet.tomochain.com/
And finally, there is TomoP: Privacy Suite - TomoP is currently in testnet and is going to be the FASTEST way to send tokens privately. 2-4 seconds fast!
Any token issued on TomoChain will be able to utilize TomoP to send privately and anonymously. And that’s not all. We are including access to wrapped BTC, ETH, USDT, and other tokens that can also utilize the blazing speed and privacy that TomoP will offer.
Dapp privacy is a major part of TomoP. It is going to allow for the creation of Dapps to be built to handle customer data with true privacy, including from the Dapp operators themselves. This can jumpstart a new wave of applications geared towards hiding user information, transactions, assets owned, etc.
We are issuing a new token standard (TRC21p) which will be purely private. The only data available will be on its token supply. Token issuers can optionally provide auditing access to enforcement authorities to meet regulatory compliance. What this means is if the next Global PayPal/Skrill/Alipay competitor can build their service right on TomoChain and meet the most basic criteria required to stay above board in many jurisdictions.

Questions from the host
1. It’s been stated that TomoChain was on track to be a cash flow positive business, is it currently cash flow positive? What services or products is it offering to bring in this revenue?
Yes, absolutely. Our plan is to be cash flow positive this year. This really goes back to the level of experience our executive team has. Everyone is seasoned, having come from different fields, in big business and startups. Before the crazy boom of ICOs and IEOs, raising funding for traditional startups required considerable proof that there was market fit, that there were actual customers to drive revenue, and a model for growth.
We knew that TomoChain’s funds raised during the ICO were for a space that has yet to prove itself so the company had to be smart in budgeting for an uncertain future. And part of that initial preparation was selling much of the ICO proceeds into fiat. Something MANY blockchain startups did not do, largely due to ambitious teams that are also headed by very inexperienced leaders. So while the bubble burst, we had capital to continue operations and to even scale it.
And, we ARE running a business. A sustainable business requires us to identifying areas to generate income in order to minimize risk and to sustain the business in the long term. So we do both consulting and services work by helping clients to develop wallets, launch tokens (Orbyt), build exchanges (AIS), and of course enterprise solutions on the blockchain of which we have clients based out of Japan and in the Middle East using blockchain for traceability solutions across various industries from automotive, healthcare, and food.
2. What is the most strategical step TOMO is doing to bring adoption of TOMO coin to our daily lives?
Empowering businesses with a truly scalable blockchain that can be used by thousands and millions of users. We see user adoption of blockchain coming from businesses that base their solutions on blockchain technology. And, TomoChain has a number of real income-generating companies that have built on us, from exchanges to payment services to enterprise clients. Not bad for 1 year I say, especially during a stagnant market. Here are some examples.
UcarPac – A Top 10 User Car company in Japan is building traceability solutions on the blockchain. We completed a POC at the end of last year. After the assessment, the client decided it was solid and commissioned Phase 2 to expand the development of the project for commercialization purposes
Triip Protocol – Triip is a destination service for travelers to book vacations powered by Blockchain. Triip is a Shark Tank Vietnam alumnus, and the first ICO on TomoChain. Users can book tours and staycations using Triip or TOMO tokens.
WisePass – A service that sells subscription services to get discounted Starbucks, Singha Beer, and even makeup (of all things) integrated TomoChain as a payment solution
“Undisclosed Vendor” – Soon to be announced, a large player in the corporate gift giving business is also launching a Dapp on TomoChain to allow for them to make purchases with TOMO across thousands of items.
Maka - A peer-to-peer marketplace to conveniently buy/sell TOMO and other blockchain tokens using standard payment gateways, including e-wallets and bank transfers.
Coin98 – A local Vietnam crypto media company launched an App to allow for their community to earn their TomoChain token called C98 and use it for products and services geared around investors and gamers. The reception has been HUGE. 95,000 users and generating 500K+ transactions on our blockchain within 3 months of their launch! They are proving that innovative new business models can be adopted relying on and being blockchain specific.

https://preview.redd.it/mlol3zl6m5t41.png?width=759&format=png&auto=webp&s=4a516404ed6a15de0e56fd08ed1e354a53c4191e
3. Do you have any plans to collaborate with developers or attract more Dapps built on TomoChain?
We are today. Our founders run the largest Blockchain Developer community in Vietnam and we work with a number of them to help develop solutions on the blockchain.
Our team has held Hackathons a few times over the last couple years and we have done developer workshops too, including one with Neo Blockchain. And this year we are working closely with educational institutions to launch blockchain courses in Vietnam.
Every Dapp developer we work with is a partner. We try to provide as much support as possible, both technical and marketing. A number of Dapps are games on TomoChain and we hold contests regularly to promote the developers and their titles.
Since we are focusing on alleviating the friction of blockchain technology, we are building out an API that will make it even easier for developers to integrate blockchain into standard applications. This is intended to allow standard non-blockchain application developers to operate in an environment they are accustomed to while also having the benefit of blockchain technology accessible.
Onboarding more developers will take time. However, I’m confident we’re on the cusp of something wonderful in the coming years that will change the relationship between users and applications enabled by blockchain. Entirely new economic structures can be set up since it’ll be the users owning all of their data for the first time in digital history. And true ownership is a powerful motivator that can be harnessed by innovative blockchain businesses.

Proposal for a marketing campaign which I think would be really cost efficient

First, sorry in advance for all the grammatical errors, English is not my native language. To give my silly username a bit of reputability, I have a masters in marketing and economics and 15+ years business experience.
I've read a few suggestions about the marketing approach on Reddit and here is my take.

"Making videos about NANO and showing its strengths"
I like it in general, but in the end that video will become an AD and ADs always have this fishy scent which users generally don't really like. NANO videos are a cool way to introduce new users to NANO, but I'm not sure if it's cost efficient enough. Myself, I always close ADs because I don't know if it's legit or scam. If I'm an average internet user who isn't into cryptos and I start watching that AD it would most likely sound like Venmo/Paypal to me (especially if this AD was played on the market that has a functioning economy), I don't think I would fully grasp the decentralization advantage of NANO and would end up closing the AD while we as advertisers would end up paying for nothing.

"Litecoin's approach"
Some say that we need Litecoin type of marketing (UFC octagon sticker + NFL clubs accepting Litecoin). While it would be cool to have any type of marketing, I don't think that this type of marketing is financially efficient and we have to be VERY financially efficient because we do not have a treasury fund and we have to rely on our donations which have already proven to be a problem for us. If you check Litecoin's daily confirmed transaction number you will notice that UFC campaign which was few months ago haven't done much if anything at all when it comes to daily transactions number: https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/litecoin-transactions.html
This type of marketing is expensive and it's not really building the usage of Litecoin since other types of payments work just fine in the USA. Think about going to UFC event and seeing that Litecoin sticker, it has just a subliminal impact (brand awareness building) on people seeing it, but none of those users or a very few will buy Litecoin because of that sticker and even less will use Litecoin in western market after buying it.
With NFL club accepting Litecoin, the same thing, no one or a very few people will buy Litecoin because now you can pay your NFL game ticket with Litecoin. Why making that additional step of buying LTC with fiat to spend it when you can just spend fiat using credit cards which work just fine?!

WHAT I THINK IS WAY MORE EFFICIENT APPROACH AND WHY
My suggestion is that we need to go after daily confirmed transactions numbereal usage of NANO/real world adoption which also means more BUYING PRESSURE on the free market, more demand. Here is how I think we will be the most efficient at it.

First of all I think we need to focus on remittances market in poor country, there is a real usecase for NANO, a real need compared to Litecoin campaign in USA which doesn't really boost usage because no one needs Litecoin at the moment (maybe if USD collapses it will be another story).

Lets use Venezuela for example. The situation there is so bad that people are starving to death. They've literally killed and ate zoo animals a long time ago and now many are eating rotten meat leftovers out of trash cans to survive (yes, it's that bad, check on the Youtube for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MGbyLUCw5k).

Average monthly salary is around 10$ while you need 100$ to survive the month. Many Venezuelans depend on their friends and family members outside of Venezuela who are sending them money to survive. From what I read, most money to Venezuela comes from Colombia and Spain (please correct me if I'm wrong) and since most of them cannot use banks the new remittances business model emerged in Venezuela. Users on social networks who have money and bank accounts in two (Venezuela + Colombia for example) or more countries have started their remittances business offering a remittances service for a FEE. Here is where NANO comes into play to skip this fee and to skip the need to meet with a stranger!
To read more about remittances market in Venezuela, here is the recent answer from Venezuelan itself https://www.reddit.com/btc/comments/cb7qw1/ama_destroying_myths_about_the_use_of/etdpvza/

OK, REMITTANCES IN VENEZUELA, HOW?
As we already figured out, because of economic disaster life is cheap in Venezuela, with 100$ we can feed a person 1 month meaning that also you can get a cheap marketing

Let's target Venezuelans with big social media reach (hundreds of thousands of followers or even millions), make deals with them through NANO center and by using our Venezuelan trusted member and pay them out to do a 4 video campaign (as a package) which would include:
- video of them explaining basic stuff about NANO
- video of them explaining why remittances with NANO (no fee, no intermediary)
- video of them showing the whole remittances process (their friend or relative buying NANO with CC and influencers receiving that NANO within seconds to their phone wallet)
- video of them spending the NANO to buy groceries (I'm sure one of the shops accepting DASH/BTC which are mostly used in Venezuela today will be happy to accept NANO as well)

My guess is that with this approach, we would get many users who would contact their friends and relatives outside Venezuela and ask them to start using NANO for remittances simply because it makes sense and it's more efficient than any other way.

WHY INFLUENCERS AND NOT ADS?

Trust
- As I've already mentioned above, when I see the AD I simply close it and I guess many of you do the same simply because I don't know if it's a scam or not. Influencers have followers who TRUST them which is really important.
Cost efficiency
- I think the ADs are no match to the potential reach we would be getting through influencers for the same amount of money which of course depends on the negotiated price we would be paying for the campaigns.

WHAT'S NEEDED TO START THIS KIND OF CAMPAIGN

1) Reputable intermediary between the community and groundwork deal executor
- Ideally this campaign would go through NANO center which has the reputability to collect our donations.

2) Person from Venezuela
...who is willing to be our extended hand and make us a deal with the influencers. Once the donations are collected NANO center would connect with a NANO member in Venezuela who could then contact suitable influencers and setup the deal. Ideally we would already have a Venezuelan who is a member of NANO center, do we?!

3) Money
How much would this cost? Honestly I have no idea, we would have to ask to find out, but as the situation there is so bad I think the price would be really cost effective to us considering we would be getting REAL ADOPTION which is maybe the biggest NANO's problem at the moment. There is quite a lot of work required from an influencer to do, from recording, video editing to going across the town to spend NANO. We need to be aware of that when negotiating the fair price with influencer. Also we need to pay our Venezuelan connection who would be doing deals with influencers.

4) Scripts
- We would need to create the script for those 4 videos and outline exactly what we want to happen in those videos

5) Influencers
- Research and find potential influencers

6) Metrics
- Along with comments/and likes bellow the campaigned videos, confirmed daily transactions on NANO block lattice type of metric to show us if the campaigns are successful or not would be really helpful. Looks like we don't have it at the moment, the closest is https://nano-faucet.org/stats/ which I find too confusing for my average brain. I know this metric is not the most precise one due to spam but spam usually creates spikes and what we would be looking for is a long term trend line something like red line in this Bitcoin example: http://prntscr.com/oe933nThis is not essential for this campaign, but if someone could build this it would be useful for NANO in general as well.

COULD WE GET SCAMMED?
Yes unfortunately, but we can take a careful approach using milestone payments. Having a really trustworthy Venezuelan connection is the key IMO.

When it comes to influencers, to mitigate a risk of getting scammed we can pay the influencers after every video instead of all at once. Also, our Venezuelan connection will have to explain to the influencer that there is a huge community behind this idea and that they can expect many more campaigns to follow if the first one proves itself to be a success which should help with not getting scammed.

WHAT IS THE END GOAL?

Usage of NANO, adoption!
- Every remittances transaction will create a few more transactions
1 - buy NANO with fiat
2 - send it to Venezuelan friend/relative
3 - Venezuelans spends it to buy food
4 - merchant will eventually have to sell NANO to get more supply or IDEALLY he/we could close the whole circle and find a supplier who would accept NANO himself or some merchants (who can) would be start saving money in NANO due to it's deflationary property.

On top of that people would continue to use it on and on in the future simply because it's the most effective way. Remember that with higher transaction numbers you will eventually get more exposure to media and other users and a bigger value of the network itself. Don't forget, NANO foundation lives from NANO and we need a good NANO price for the team to continue making great updates to the protocol. Also bigger NANO price in USD = more campaigns that we will be able to fund in the future while spending the same amount of NANO.

If this method really is the most cost effective for users I really don't see a reason why those first users who came out of watching influencers videos wouldn't recommend their friends to do the same process for remittances!

Merchants
- If we would be able to get this rolling, many Venezuelans would end up having NANO on their mobile phones, looking where to spend it. They would approach grocery stores and ask to pay with NANO and eventually get us merchants through a simple market demand mechanism. DASH and BTC are mostly used in Venezuela today and we need to thank them for doing the hard work for us introducing merchants to cryptos and having them more likely to accept the more superior payment protocol, NANO.

NEXT STEPS

1) Feedback
I put some thoughts and time into writing this (as I should for holding a lot of NANO), I'll leave it here and first and most important if your feedback because if NANO community in general doesn't like this idea, then it makes no sense to proceed with it since it won't be getting enough funding. With your feedback we can also improve this proposal.

2) NANO center approval + Venezuelan groundworker
If the community likes the idea and the feedback is good we can see what folks from NANO center have to say about it, and to see if we even have a trustworthy Venezuelan member who is willing to make this proposal into a reality.

3) Detailed scripts for videos
- I've mentioned 4 important short videos that I think are all needed for 1 successful campaign so that we offer the followers of those influencers the whole package explaining the whole process and answering "Why NANO?" through those videos (of course his can change if you guys give better idea of what we need from the influencer). Scripts need to be detailed with time stamps explaining exactly what we want inside the videos. If we have a green light from first 2 steps I will start this script building process through Google documents and invite you guys to help me build those.

4) Finding and choosing influencers We can create a topic to find the most suitable influencers in Venezuela, Venezuelan members needs to help us with this!

5) Donations With the community and NANO center behind this proposal, Venezuelan connection ready to do it and scripts ready for the influencers the next step would be to reach into our wallets and donate enough money to be able to fund out first deal.

6) Negotiations, budget building Once the donations start dripping into NANO center's wallet our Venezuelan connection can start reaching out to the chosen influencers and see what's doable with our budget and proceed from there.

7) First campaign Do our first campaign, evaluate it and see if it was cost efficient enough and if yes, improve the whole concept from the experience that we will get from the first campaign and proceed scaling further.

To show that I'm serious about this proposal, I promise to donate the first 100 NANO to this campaign if the NANO center gives us a green light for this proposal. Without NANo center's green light, I think this proposal doesn't have much chances of success.

BANANO is running on the same technological base as NANO, although some parameters like PoW threshold and units were tweaked. The biggest difference is the governance, with BANANO being a meme coin with more fun, freedom and creative experiments.

Where do I get Banano?

You can be tipped free Banano here or on the discord for being active or contributing to the community. Otherwise there are regular giveaways, contests and small airdrops mostly happening on the discord server all the time.
Hint: If you are new here and tell us below about your first impression and how you found us you might actually get some tasty free Banano right away ;)
Banano is freely distributed and is not sold by the devs through some sort of ICO. They distribute it to their community for free! This is also why there are regular faucet game events.
Apart from this, you also can buy Banano at the exchange Mercatox: https://mercatox.com/

Current events:

Banano Papertoy Contest: http://toy.banano.how
Banano Minecraft Server: http://minecraft.banano.how

Which faucet games and when are they active?

Banano Runner:
A graphical runner game where you collect Bananas which then are paid out as Banano to your wallet. This happens regularly, but be sure to only play when the game is active. The game evolves and changes a bit over time, see here an excellent summary and getting started guide from CastrosBallsack: https://www.reddit.com/bananocoin/comments/8w02q3/anyone_excited_about_banano_runner_if_not_you/
Another faucet game is Monkey Match - this one can be played through a website which is online when the game is active (https://bananosecure.coranos.io/).

How do I know when a game is active?

Keep your eyes open for official announcements on the Discord. Sometimes these games can start on short notice. Mostly the start of faucet game events will also be announced via Twitter, here at Reddit and the Telegram group. Don't play the game without confirming first that an event is running!

I have played a faucet game, when will I receive the payment?

Be a bit patient, all game results are carefully checked by the devs to detect cheating/bot usage. Since they have also lots of other things to do it might take a few days or even more than a few days before you receive your Banano from faucet games. Don't worry, everything will be paid out.

Is Banano listed on an exchange?

Yes, on Mercatox, with Nano (XRB) and Bitcoin (BTC) pairs: https://mercatox.com/
Also, there is an ongoing vote for Banano to get listed at Coinex, supported by a 1000 Ban bounty for everyone who votes. More details at http://vote.banano.how

Are there any airdrops?

There has been an airdrop to Nano holders before, see https://banano.claims/. There also will be future airdrops, keep your eyes open for announcements!

Can I buy Banano?

Banano is mainly distributed to everyone for free as mentioned above. However, you can buy Banano from other users directly with Nano at the discord in the #jungle-bazaar channel. These trades are safe when using the on-board escrow bot. Check out this detailed step-by-step guide:
https://www.reddit.com/CryptoCurrency/comments/8yj0nt/how_to_buy_the_hot_new_meme_coin_banano_using_an/
Now you also can buy Banano on Mercatox, with Nano (XRB) and Bitcoin (BTC) pairs: https://mercatox.com/

What's the current Banano price?

You can check this website for current conversion rates: https://creeper.banano.cc/exploreexchange_rates
However, be aware that this price calculation (based on discord trades) will not always be 100% accurate.
Otherwise check current prices at Mercatox:
https://mercatox.com/exchange/BAN/BTC
https://mercatox.com/exchange/BAN/XRB

My question is not listed here, where to ask for help?

You can post your question below or ask it at the discord, in the channel #the-jungle. Many community members are nice and will happily help you!

I have feedback, suggestions or ideas? Where can I leave them?

All this best goes to the reddit feedback thread you always will find here: http://feedback.banano.how
Feedback is highly appreciated, and if you have great ideas, time, or special talents, you should also post there, join us and contribute!

Anything else important to know?

Yes! Be cautious! No official or dev will ever request you to send Banano or other crypto, or ask you for a password or your seed. Keep your seed safe! Be careful about scammers impersonating to be devs, team-members or official mods. Also, always be cautious about people offering you to buy Banano, only trades through the escrow bot in the Discord (#jungle-bazaar) are safe! Be careful, scammers are everywhere. Ask one of the moderators in case of any doubt!
Ok, that should be the essential part for now. Any suggestions/updates? More questions? Comment below!
Big thanks to the great meme artist CastrosBallsack for helping to create this FAQ.

Gonggrabber's ARK Video Contest: Thanks, Compliments, and Next Steps (Spoiler Alert: You Can Earn ARK!)

My Videos

Here is my winning entry of Gonggrabber's ARK Video Contest!
Here are my other entries:

Introduction

Firstly, I'd like to express my deepest thanks to the ARK community and beyond for supporting me in winning the video contest. I'd like to give an extra special thanks to gonggrabber for doing two things (on top of putting together a great contest):
  1. Awarding ARK to all accepted entries. This move gave participants a boost of confidence to take part and put out some really great stuff. I had withheld my comments on videos during the campaign to prevent showing any bias, but believe this, that silence is breaking today. I was thoroughly impressed with so many of the entries and everyone will hear those thoughts today. If accepted entries receiving ARK had not been a thing, I likely would not have made an entry. In a winner-take-all environment I would not have felt comfortable competing directly against the very community members I'm sworn to support. With all accepted entries receiving ARK, it made me very happy and comfortable participating.
  2. Allowing everyone to participate including team members. As a long time community member turned team member, I have the unique challenge of occasionally struggling to feel included in various community activities such as contests like this. As a team member, I must watch my words more closely now and avoid doing things like endorsing specific delegates, for example. Having the opportunity to participate in this allowed me to express myself creatively and my love for ARK, and gonggrabber will always have my biggest thanks for this.
Here's something else you may not know about gonggrabber. GG's been in the ARK community far longer than I have, and has been on this Subreddit for a long time. GG is not afraid to stand up to skeptics and naysayers with a signature approach being "what are you doing to help." Reading GG's comments have helped me through darker times in the Crypto Winter, and I have always felt all the more proud and confident with ARK due to GG being here.

Next Steps: Time to Earn ARK!

Now that the contest is over and winner declared, it's time to put the community to work spreading the word! So, because I have won, and in the spirit of gonggrabber's quote "I'm putting my money where my mouth is," I will be awarding a portion of my ARK winnings to the community in exchange for promoting the winning video. Here are the things I will be looking at regarding video promotion with instructions on how to get my ARK. There is a limit of one reward per person per method. Any action taken before this post got posted doesn't count. All rewards will be delivered to you via Delegate Cryptology's ArkTippr Reddit Tip Bot.

All this promotion will be for the winning video entry.

Retweet With Comment
What you need to do: Retweet this specific tweet with a comment about what you thought of the video. You can also choose to tag some people you think would like it.
What you will get: Direct message me in Twitter to @ArkStickers and tell me your Reddit username. You will receive a free code for an ARK Stickers pack, delivered anywhere in the world!
Tag Friends on Instagram
What you need to do: Follow @ArkEcosystem on Instagram. Locate this Instagram post and tag three friends in a comment, who you think would like the video.
What you will get: Send me a private message on Reddit before you do it, then I will see you do it and give you 3 ARK.
Send an Email
What you need to do: Send an email to some people you think will enjoy the video. You should use "BCC" if you are sending one email to multiple people, and make the recipient be to yourself. This will hide the email addresses of your friends so they can't see each other's emails, as a courtesy. If you don't know what BCC means, ask me before you send an email.
What you will get: BCC me also in the email, then send me a direct message on Reddit. I will give you 3 ARK.
Alert Crypto Youtubers
What you need to do: Throw a Youtube comment on your favorite crypto youtuber's channel, letting them know what you think about the winning video and you think they would like it. For spam reasons, I don't think you should put a link in there. Just tell them to check out my youtube channel "Ark Stickers" and they can watch it.
What you will get: Before you do it, send me a direct Reddit message first. If they reply to your Youtube comment in any way, let me know and I will give you 5 ARK.
Score Me an Interview on a Crypto Youtube Channel
What you need to do: Figure out a way to get a crypto youtuber to contact me in some way (Reddit, Slack, Discord, Email). I want to be a guest on their show and talk about the video, the contest, our community, and what ARK is all about.
What you will get: Send me a direct message on Reddit to let me know who will be contacting me shortly. After the interview is executed, I will give you 50 (fifty) ARK. I will continue giving you 50 ARK for each channel you get me an interview for. No limits on this one. I also do not care how big or small their channel is. One note: if I have to pay to get on their show I would not be able to do that.

Ask any questions in the comments of this post. I will continue to run this program until the portion of ARK I have set aside for this is gone. At that point, I will seek other ways to potentially keep this program running. Good luck!

Honoring the Participants

I have a lot to say about the videos featured in this contest, and even more to say about the talented community members we have here at ARK. I will now personally applaud and thank the community members who participated, showing them how glad I am to have them here.
Azure-Infinity. Developing on ARK, ARK Dynamic Fees, ARK Community Commitee, ARK Delegate Types, ARK Hackathons*.
When it comes to participation in the ARK community, Azure-Infinity appears to be in perpetual beast mode. AI has a keen grasp on media creation as well, both still and motion. AI's dedication to ARK cannot be argued, and I see AI participate in multiple ways within the ARK community on a regular basis. AI is also a proud member of the ARK Community Committee, collaborating directly with me on helpful community resources. AI had a lot of great things to say during 30 Days of ARK as well. I enjoyed a lot of things about each of AI's entries, but I especially liked the hackathon video, which combined live footage from youtube.ark.io with explanations and clean graphics. I can't wait to see how else AI will enrich our community throughout 2019. A sincere thanks for your participation here.
Zzzoem. ARK on the Go.
Z's video puts a crisp perspective on everything ARK has to offer from the point of view of a mobile user. Uplifting music and well-paced content with quick-to-understand "tooltips" take the viewer through what it's like interacting with ARK products. I was especially impressed with the fluid transitions, from Mobile Wallet > Explorer > Voting > ACF > Call to Action really produced a beautiful result. Impressed.
Ledgerdary. SmartBridge Technology & ACES, IPFS.
Aside from having an awesome username that is nothing short of legen... wait for it... dary, Ledgerdary is around here on the subreddit and always has supportive and thoughtful comments ready to fire. Ledgerdary also participated in the 30 Days of ARK and is obviously very knowledgeable on ARK. I was very pleased to see L also participate in this contest, as well. L's videos lay out complex concepts in a simple way, which is one of the reasons why I liked the videos. Thank you for making them!
TheDevils4dvocate. ARK DPoS, ARK IPFS Hype Video.
Let's get this straight first and foremost. I really liked the music choices of both of these videos, the throwback tech-corporate style of the first, and the pure fun hardcore choice of the second. As someone who does (albeit amateur) voiceover work, I was pleasantly surprised to hear informative voiceover work on the first video. I also really enjoyed how TDA slowly transitioned the viewer from Bitcoin to ARK concepts, kind of like entering a wavepool instead of just jumping off the highdive. The second video is hilarious, worth watching just to see the 'hacker' get comepletely brickwalled by ARK. Cheers- I enjoyed the videos a lot.
Fakoshi. ARK Push-Button Blockchains, ARK Pay, ARK: Get Involved, ARK Explorer, ARK Subreddit*.
I saw Fakoshi join the ARK Subreddit, and our little corner of the Reddit woods is better for it. Fakeoshi's positive personality is similar to Ledgerdary's and others here. If I recall correctly, Fakoshi also helped out with comments for 30DOA and provided some great insight on ARK concepts. F's videos are light, easy to digest, and give you time to think. I especially liked the concept of an entire video all about getting involved with the project. I'm very glad you are a member of this community. Thanks for your efforts here!
Travis-DJSelery. The ARK Crypto Podcast.
Travis is ARK.io CMO. Travis does ARK interviews, works with ARK partners, and handles a lot of things behind the scenes. I traveled with Travis to Vegas for the World Crypto Conference and Poker Tournament, and it was great hanging with Travis in real life and watching him do his thing. He also has a great sense of humor, as you will see in his video about The ARK Crypto Podcast that I host every week at https://thearkcryptopodcast.com. The video definitely got a laugh out of me. Thank you Travis for all you do!
Crypto_Mining. Long Format ARK Overview.
Crypto_Mining has a Youtube channel and following. CM produced a longer video, outlining ARK's strengths and benefits in specific detail, with focus on interoperability and the ARK delegate landscape. I'd like to personally extend a lot of thanks to CM for his entry and involvement in the contest. CM even took it a step further by interacting with his network of followers, teaching them about ARK and getting them involved in the contest voting process. CM proved a formidable opponent, but more importantly, an ambitious person who took real steps to get the word of ARK out there. A special thanks for your involvement and thank you for making the video!
0bran. How to Find and Vote for a Delegate, ARK SmartBridge Explained*, ARK SmartBridge*.
0bran produced some great content for this contest. The first video struck me due to how downright useful it is. I could definitely see my younger brother being able to follow these instructions and successfully vote. I also loved the music choice. It's peppy and chill at the same time. 0bran's videos have a slightly different aesthetic than others here, using the ARK.io visuals (even notice it's a motion loop). Nice! The videos were refreshing and I'll say again, useful af. Cool transitions too! Great work.
BroadcastJunkie. How to Send ARK Fast.
BroadcastJunkie runs ArkForIT.com, where you can spend ARK on professional infotech services, right now being enterprise-grade antivirus software. BroadcastJunkie is also very active here on the Subreddit, and never fails to lend a helping hand to assist the community. Aside from this video, showing how easy and fast it is to send ARK, BroadcastJunkie also made a full Desktop Wallet v2 walkthrough video earlier this year. It's really nice and even shows how to verify the hashes of the download, in the interest of your security. I'm very glad to have BroadcastJunkie with us. Cheers!
pl4tf0rm2. ARK is Cool!
Watch out Azure-Infinity, platf0rm2 is apparently becoming a growing force within the ARK community! P is very conceptually creative, and it definitely shows in the video. The entry is as uplifting as it is entertaining. I definitely laughed at a few of the funnier parts. I also really enjoyed the ARK "Deal With It" graphic. Very cool. The little asterisks are great. "Results may vary considerably." Gold. The community also spoke through a lot of votes on the video. I can only assume that P had done some campaigning as well. It was great having P be a part of the contest, just as they were a part of 30 Days of ARK as well. Two thumbs up! Thanks for being here in the ARK community.
johnblockchain11. ARK.io (Hax0r Style)
Yes! This is my jam. A short video with a unique aesthetic compared to others here. Perfect blending of ARK.io visual assets and motion effects. I thought it was really really cool. If I had seen something like this not knowing of ARK, I'd definitely be curious to learn more. Definitely worth checking out the vid. There are a lot of reasons I like this video, and it's like a "dark theme" of an ARK video. Thanks for making!
ChooseArkChooseajob. ARK Mobile Wallet Walkthrough*
CACAJ isn't posting daily in the Subreddit, but I definitely see consistent action over the months. CACAJ is definitely repping the concept of participation in the ARK Ecosystem in full force, even through the username itself! CACAJ also participated in the "Describe ARK in One Block Time" contest and had a great entry there too. One thing I like about the video is it gives the viewer a good sample of what it's like interacting with the mobile wallet. I especially liked the step by step process of adding a custom network like Phantom. I noticed none of your entries were in the accepted list, so please contact me in Reddit direct message if you see this ;)
saeedanwar92. ARK Overview*.
From my experience on this Subreddit, welcome! You seem to be a new face around here. I'm glad you made a video. It shows in a simple and direct way what ARK is about. It's a shame it could not fit into the 25 slots. Please contact me in Reddit direct message if you see this ;)
0toierance. ARK Interoperability*.
As a forging delegate, 'del' helps secure the ARK network, processes transactions, and even runs a faucet that awards ARK to its visitors. Another video with voiceover! Nice! I also really liked the stars backdrop. It goes without saying that delegates like del and the rest are a tremendous asset to the ecosystem. Thank you for all you do here del! I noticed none of your entries were in the accepted list, so please contact me in Reddit direct message if you see this ;)
pssf84. ARK Overview*.
Hi, pssf84, welcome to ARK! I thought your video was informative and fun. Another unique aesthetic, too. It definitely achieves the goal of making blockchains seem less scary, which is a goal of ARK as well. I liked the friendly music and seeing the kid receive a trophy was pretty awesome. Thanks for making your video! I noticed none of your entries were in the accepted list, so please contact me in Reddit direct message if you see this ;)
smuorfy. ARK Paper Wallet*.
A nice entry detailing the procedure to securely generate a paper wallet for ARK. The graphics were cool, the text-to-speech voiceover was amusing but also extremely concise and informative! "Paul" is resting easy knowing his ARK is safely sitting in cold storage now. I also noticed that it seems this was the only entry pertaining to the paper wallet. I really appreciated that the paper wallet was highlighted in this contest with detailed steps on how to generate and use it. Thank you for this entry! I noticed none of your entries were in the accepted list, so please contact me in Reddit direct message if you see this ;)

Once again, many thanks to everyone who was in the contest and our killer community. Cheers!

Top 10 Ways to Earn Bitcoin in 2020

Top 10 Ways to Earn Bitcoin in 2020

https://preview.redd.it/14i4twybxby31.png?width=476&format=png&auto=webp&s=ba30918de799fb2614f4be1284a37d9708c5bbb3
Back in 2018, the most popular way to earn bitcoin seemed to be through Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs). Over $6 billion was raised in Q1 2018 for crypto projects — many with just a white paper and a website. Business was good for founders and investors until the end of 2018 when scammers were the only ones laughing. Most investors lost money, and capital investments into ICO dropped 97%. Companies like TruStory even launched whose sole mission was to stop ICO scams from happening. By Q1 2019, less than $900 million was raised through ICOs —with regulation being the coup de gras.

So where has all the momentum shifted? The second wave of crypto projects will undoubtedly reward profits over potential. This article examines the top ways you can earn bitcoin in 2020 — from faucets and bitcoin mining to crypto savings accounts. The biggest winners of 2020 will likely fall into one of the following 10 categories. The strategy that is right for you will depend on your skills, network, access to capital, location, risk tolerance and investment timeline.

#1 - Holding
https://preview.redd.it/2rvi2izqxby31.png?width=475&format=png&auto=webp&s=5edf45a5cf880916a1cbf3dd3c889b05e27a52be
Arguably the best way to make money on Bitcoin is to buy it and hold it for many years. Smart investors rely on a strategy called Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) to reduce market volatility. This works by investing a fixed amount on a regular schedule, ie $100 once a week for 10 weeks, which helps offset the crypto market volatility. The hard part is being patient with the investment and resisting the urge to daytrade or sell too quickly.

#2 - Lending
https://preview.redd.it/8ejpg84wxby31.png?width=472&format=png&auto=webp&s=984fbb7bb13e6064a8ae1d130d77f3f9fd9c716b
A number of fintech companies like BlockFi and BitBond now offer the ability to earn interest on your crypto holdings. Interest rates range start around 8% and can go as high as 20% for trusted lenders. The interest clients earn typically compounds monthly, although these returns mimic that of the S&P 500 so this is considered a low risk/reward option.

#3 - Day Trading
https://preview.redd.it/i1mqwm80yby31.png?width=471&format=png&auto=webp&s=b9185daf5e28b8160f8b36848b26e34e1b7b8417
A common way to earn Bitcoin trading is through trading cryptocurrencies on exchanges using 1X to as high as 100X leverage. Traders can also bet on the index of any crypto on sites like eToro or Robinhood. Daytraders will trade based on charts and trends, and try to grow their portfolio.
https://preview.redd.it/hxpg8nq7yby31.png?width=469&format=png&auto=webp&s=8441aee2cd8b258ec580faee5820510401372cc9
Another much safer form of arbitrage is dropshipping. You can source products on Amazon or from sites like Oberlo who will help you find the right products to buy. You can build an e-commerce store using Shopify or just sell on eBay. If you have a store and supply chain already, it's easy to start accepting Bitcoin using a payment gateway like CoinPayments or BitPay.
Other peer-to-peer exchanges like Paxful, Purse and Redeeem allow you to trade gift cards and other digital and physical goods for bitcoin.

#4 - Gambling
https://preview.redd.it/fghrvc3cyby31.png?width=473&format=png&auto=webp&s=7ebcc8d3a22c7e07ba7fc1c455a8b22b1f2b88b5
Gambling with Bitcoin is highly addictive, risky, largely unregulated, and offers the biggest and fastest financial volatility. Some popular crypto gambling sites include CloudBet, BetOnline, FortuneJack, Bovada, BetUS and hundreds of others. For more rankings, click here.

#5 - Mining
https://preview.redd.it/h9q7uphpyby31.png?width=471&format=png&auto=webp&s=64c18aeb8fc4bee85f9e1b8275385223f017c825
Despite the fact that over 80% of Bitcoin has already been mined, bitcoin mining is still a $4 billion annual industry. Since mining was intentionally developed to require advanced hardware, it's an expensive process that requires large mining facilities to be profitable. For this reason, most large-scale mining operations are located in China where electricity is cheap.
To be successful, individual miners are forced to join collective mining pools like MinerGate or simply mine as a fun hobby with Coinmine or Homeyminer and not worry about the ROI. To learn more, click here.

#6 - Faucets
https://preview.redd.it/uejcd0ztyby31.png?width=478&format=png&auto=webp&s=de76e9b769582b83af46e78d97616c19945d0474
A faucet is just a website that gives free coins to every visitor for staying on the site or engaging with content. Some examples are Cointiply, FreeBitcoin, SatoshiQuiz and others. Keep in mind, a satoshi represents roughly 0.00000001 bitcoin, so 100 satoshi is about 1 penny. It would take 100 correct trivia answers on SatoshiQuiz to make $1 USD. It's far more profitable to own a Bitcoin faucet and make money on advertisements.

#7 - Services
https://preview.redd.it/2mizr67e0cy31.png?width=483&format=png&auto=webp&s=c698ba3fd2ee210837155a240a65c3002ae049da
There are dozens of job boards online where you can earn bitcoin for a variety of independent contractor services. Many clients on Upwork, Freelancer and other non-crypto platforms will gladly 15% discounts or more if they can pay their freelancers in bitcoin and avoid the costs of the marketplace. Other more dedicated sites are listed below.
Jobs4Bitcoin — Reddit job board for bitcoin tasks
AngelList — Job board for crypto companies and projects
Earn.com — Earn bitcoin while learning about crypto
CryptoGrind — Escrow for bitcoin freelancers
CryptoJobs — Job board for bitcoin freelancers
Coinality — Job board for crypto freelancers
Bitfortip — Earn bitcoin for helping people Indeed — Job board for crypto companies BitWage — HR services for paying in crypto XBTFreelancer — Freelancers get paid in bitcoin

#8 - Exchanges
https://preview.redd.it/v5a0u4iy0cy31.png?width=464&format=png&auto=webp&s=543a50490c066b904fe351cec925d8adcf1a6c22
The simplest and lowest-cost exchange is a Bitcoin ATM. As of January 2019, there were 4,213 Bitcoin or cryptocurrency ATMs worldwide. With many countries like Venezuela, Argentina and Nigeria experiencing hyperinflation, the world's 2.3 billion unbanked people will continue to demand bitcoin and stablecoins as hedges against inflation. The estimated startup costs for a Bitcoin ATM is about $25,000 per location, according to CoinATMRadar.
https://preview.redd.it/xoj4c5c31cy31.png?width=468&format=png&auto=webp&s=bed32024272d9c6e6e8fcdc0e7c53254e91c02e6
Building a crypto exchange or peer-to-peer trading platform will be a more expensive way to earn bitcoin as an exchange. This requires building a website, hosting wallets on the blockchain, building security protocols, creating KYC/AML policies, accepting crypto payments, building two sides of a marketplace, and a little marketing, branding and legal work. Some examples of successful P2P trading platforms are Paxful, Purse and Redeeem.
The fiat to crypto exchanges like Gemini, Coinbase and Kraken usually require venture funding, large engineering teams and banking partnerships for proper custody of the funds. Fiat exchanges also have to register as a Money Services Business (MSB). For a full list of fiat exchanges, click here.

#9 - Affiliate Rewards
https://preview.redd.it/peewibjm1cy31.png?width=475&format=png&auto=webp&s=18f067006e2edfdbae198e14d71ede66bb805dae
Affiliate programs in crypto are endless, and they can come in many different shapes and sizes. Products like Lolli and Pei will reward you with bitcoin cashback everywhere you shop. Exchanges like Changelly will give you a percentage of their fee revenue for referring clients. Wallets like Abra will give you $25 for each signup. The optimal strategy is picking a familiar product that you know and love. For a list of affiliate programs, click here.

#10 - Content
https://preview.redd.it/yh7q5vwv1cy31.png?width=469&format=png&auto=webp&s=ed03d857d94d8c11de63b5cbc21c5e311836fcaa
Bitcoin is King. Content is King. So Bitcoin Content must be God. The ability to research, write and publish high-quality content on Bitcoin, blockchain and cryptocurrencies will be a highly coveted asset in 2020.
